Reflections of What They Used to Be is a collection of photographs depicting nature and man’s progress. Where trees once stood tall is now paved with black asphalt and concrete. The word reflection is used in two different forms. The first use of reflection is the actual reflection of the tree in the puddle of water juxtaposed with the absence of the tree itself. The second use of reflection is the thoughts in one’s mind, to reflect on or think about how trees affect them. The collection was created to draw attention to trees both in their presence and in their absence.
